Clips Store + Content + Tutorial + Support (Approx 2.5 Month Rev)
I have had a number of people who hit me up asking about the established clips stores, but could not afford the price of them so they were looking for something cheaper, or something that I would allow them to do payments on. So here is that offer. Options: 1. I will license you around 300 scenes of my content (or 100 of another, 3 mo. updates). 2. I will teach you how to cut, watermark, and ...
Blog Program
I typically am not a fan of these types of programs, but they have their uses if you spend the time to customize them. http://scrapebox.com/ This is a program you would use to, 'in theory', harvest info on your competition and also get some relevant keywords and back links for SEO and traffic. My guess is most of the blogs are complete shit and you are better off spending your time and energ...
How Do I Get Started in Adult?!
I get asked this question all the time. I will tell you my honest opinion although many others may disagree depending on their background. Some people are nothing but traffic guys, and work the affilate and traffic broker game. Others are looking to do their own pay sites, and maybe produce their own content one day. While others do not care about any of that shit and simply want to make money fro...
Stop Getting Ripped Off by Designers
It's important for me to state that not ALL designers are con artists who love running up the tab on you. However, if you do not know what you are doing or too lazy to learn you are going to run into problems. I will give you a prime example of this. I am working on this huge network of sites for not only ad spots to add into my existing network, but also adding in link trades and some other th...

Finally! A Solid Link Management Solution
A week or so ago I was going through my new network of sites and having to swap out links manually (I am building one new website a day). I was thinking what a major pain in the fucking ass it was, and as this new network of pay sites/blogs/tgp's/fan sites/landing pages/tubes/etc. was growing how much of a pain it would be to do this over and over when I build, and sell new sites in the network. T...

Make the Offer. Will Consider Different Options.
I had some bigger ambitions on some additional pay sites, a possible program, among other things I was considering with content and site development. Testing some other markets outside my own. However, I have opted to instead focus on some other things I am more passionate about. There are only so many hours in the day. I will consider some various options on what to do with this. Try Different Ads. Never Stop Testing!
For the past few weeks I have been launching a bunch of websites adding to my traffic network.  They are a mix of blogs, membership and tube sites, forums, TGP's, landing pages, among other things. I integrated my Smart Spots ad script, as I talked about the other day, and replaced my OpenX. I have 80% of my sites running with the new ad rotation script and I notice some changes. While my cele...
Sometimes It Does Not Take a Rocket Scientist
This is a two fold lesson for the newbies out there. Yesterday we were working with a client who was trying to edit some videos on his server. He could not figure out why he could not see them in his FTP clients, but he could see them in his SSH access. What he was trying to do initially was simply change the permissions on the clips, as required by the script, to chmod 777 so he could encode t...

Domain Names: How to Pick Them

Posted By: Chris Marcus on May 7, 2010 in Domains - Comments: No Comments »

Everyone seems to have a different way and method to their domain names and how the pick them. Some of them appear to be insane to me and based on no information of logic. Just a gut feeling if you will a hope and a prayer. Or because it sounds catchy. That’s nice and all, and maybe if you were planning some new big budget concept site that has deep pockets for marketing that would be brilliant. However, most of us are looking to get the most bang for the buck, and looking to zero in on good keywords and SERPS (search engine result position). More a less some short cuts to hoping up the results, especially if in a very competitive niche.

I am not going to get into all of the SEO and SERP stuff in this guide, I am simply going to give you some basics to help you pick a good domain name for your site, or store, that will zero in on the quality converting traffic you want to attract to your site.

Alright, first things first. Remember in that earlier guide where I had you do the research on your comptetiion and thier sites. You are going to reference some of those sites. I am guessing when you did your research, you may have used a search engine to see who ranked the highest for the sites you are looking for. That’s great, but those are not always the best. You may have used the underground link list that is more recognized, especially in the micro, and specialized fetishes and niches. Those are pure gold for good sites. However, they are not always run by the ‘corporate adult’ types. Those who know how to do everything required.

Getting back on track.. I do not know every niche out there. That is why I had you do your own research on your market. It gets you some ideas on WHO  the competition is, and the how’s and why’s that have made them successful. Now we are going to take that a step further for those who are successful, or perceived that way, and getting good SERPS in the search engines. So I want you to first go to GOOGLE and start typing in whatever works for your fetish. For me, I would type in celebrity feet, or foot fetish, or tickling. I would then see who is coming up with the best SERPS, and “in theory” the best sites. Although that is not always the case.

Now I want you to go to the number one site showing up. Open it up in a new browser window. I want you to then slide your mouse over to the far right, or left, where there are no graphics, no text, and should be in a margin of the site. I want you to then right click on your mouse and scroll down to “VIEW PAGE SOURCE”. I want you to look at their code, and specifically you are trying to find the following…

<meta name=’keywords’
<meta name=’description’

These are important in your research to help you find out what keywords you need in your domain name when you do a search later. You would want to do this for some of the top sites in your niche. You are going to start seeing a pattern of keywords that make up the ‘hot spots’ in your niche that you would want to try and get into your domain name.

Step Two:

Now that you have your list narrowed down to the top keywords for your niche, I am sure you have gathered some of the key terms that people are looking for. Whether tickle torture, foot worship, free clips, and so on. You have a good starting point for a domain name. So what do you do with this information? Well, what I like to do is next go into Google’s AdWords and do searchs on those terms to see how much volume is being done on each.

If you do not have an Google AdWords account. Go and register. It’s free.
www.adwords.google.com

Once you are registered, and signed in you would next go into OPPORTUNITIES and then KEYWORD TOOL.

Type in some of those phrases you have researched, and click SEARCH. You will start getting back some data from Google on the search volume for those words and phrases. For ME I typically will start narrowing down which has the most volume in searches, as well as some others that may be relevant I had never thought of. So work through your list, and you should be able to start narrowing it down. Personally, I would make notes in the column for search results as this will tie into the next step.

Step Three:

Ok. So you should have a good few keywords or phrases that look like the hot one’s for your market or niche. You have used actual FACTS and STATS to get to this point in the process. This will be what helps you in the long run. You see what people are searching for, and what keywords you are looking to target. Now you have to see what is available.

A lot of domain registrars have this, but you want to go to one of them that gives you recommendations. So when your first ten choices all look registrered, they can give you some ideas on other one’s that will get you thinking and sometimes find pure gold. Some examples of sites with recommendations are…

www.domain.com
www.netsol.com

I would not register or host my domains at these places. I use www.monikor.com however, they do provide a useful service in regards to the search and recommendation features to help find a good domain. This process can take you and hour, and sometimes more depending on what you are looking for. So do not get discouraged. Also, do not worry about how long your domain name is.

Some people believe that a long domain name sucks and will not be good. This is wrong. You need a domain that is easy to remember. Keep in mind that you are building a brand, and a site. People with that advice are typically domain name brokers, or squatters. So their idea of a good domain will vary greatly from your needs. Short is nice, but easy to spell and memoriable is more important.

Step Four:

This step should be done before you ever open up a clip store, pay site, or start your planning. You will want to have your watermark on any clips or pictures if possible. Watermarks are a good way to brand, and will build you traffic over the long run. Even if you open a clip store first, ultimately, you would want to open a pay site down the road. So having a domain name PRIOR is important.

To make it a little easier to understand, look at it this way.

1. You watermark your clips. It does not need to be anything fancy. Just the domain name.

2. You open up a clip store. Typically you would do this before a pay site so you can get some feedback, and sales. Tweaking your productions.

3. You point your domain name to the clip store. So you are no longer clips4sale.com/studio/234578. You are simply www.toehee.com

4. All of your advertising and marketing and link building can be done for ONE site and ONE domain. www. toehee.com instead of clips4sale.com, clips.com, toehee.com, and so on..

5. When you launch your pay site later. You do not have to swap out links, change marketing, you just change where your domain points to. This will save you so much time and effort and make it so much easier on your members, and buyers long term I simply can’t express. This is often overlooked, and people do not think of this in their long term planning. But I can assure you this alone makes this guide, and how we got to this point pure gold in the long term business plan.

Step Five:

The last step in this would be once you have your domain, and it is registered you would want to point the DNS to your webhost. Whether you have a virtual account somewhere or your have a dedicated server, you would want to point your domain name to the DNS server. Then you would be able to control not only the domain name pointer, but you can also set up a webmaster, or submit, or ‘ideas@toehee.com’ type of email address for newsletters, and getting feedback on your clip and sales.
