A few points of clarification that have come up…
Cataloging:
If you buy/license content from someone independently, you can send it to me and one of my assistants will organize it for you. Putting it into a nice spread sheet, and matching up models, file names, and even writing out a long and short description for you. All of the information will be put on an Excel spreadsheet and put on your drive, or sent to you.
The advantage to having this done, is that it will save you an incredible amount of time trying to keep track of what you have, models and file names, as well as your 2257 records. Better yet, you can just copy and past that info into your site when uploading clips for your clip store(s), pay site(s), whatever.
On pay site deals where I am plugging in a content package for a price point, like my $5000.00 deal with AMAContent. I would have the drive shipped to me, organized or cataloged (if you pay extra), and then when I am done, ship it to you with a tracking number.
Obviously this is a convenience and you are going to pay for the assistant’s time to do this. Also to note, I do not upload your 1100 scenes. I may do a set number, typically 250 and no more than 400, for a set price in addition to my script/design/content deal.
Typically all of the editing, cutting, compression of your content is left up to you. Most people do multiple versions, and have a particular way they want it cut. Not everyone is the same. Just as not everyone prefers Dvix/WMV/MPG/AVI and so on.
Additional Content:
If you need additional content, you can always let me know. I know most of the content producers, and who is selling what. I can also typically work out a nice price point other than advertised. This is of a benefit to everyone since I can easily move more volume, and handle their marketing.
So if you are looking for a particular niche, or bulk content. I either know of someone off the top of my head, or I can find someone to fulfill you need who is not going to fuck you over. I can even do the research for you, and negotiate terms.
This is a sticking point for a lot of newbies I have found who are trying to get into pay sites, clips stores, or production. You need to know the licensing, and legal bullshit to make sure you are protected, and not going to be ripped off, or fucked, for your thousands of dollars.
I make it easy for you.
Work Ethic:
As I mentioned in my O.P., I am going to give you a crash course in what you need to be doing, and how you should be doing it. Whether it is one thing, like a clip store, or whether it is the whole scha-bang with SERPS, clip stores, pay sites, and recruiting models.
I am going to tell you what you need to focus on from the beginning to make things easier for you, and drive the most traffic and sales long term. Ironically enough, taking the time to write good descriptions, and spending the extra time to do it right from the get go will best serve you in the long run.
When you learn to do this consistently with your sites, blogs, link bait and pay sites over time. You will see how easy it is to game the SERPS and rank for most of your key words of choice.
That said, in the end, it will still come down to YOU doing the work. Not only the “routine” that is required. But also, after the six months is done, it will be on your to keep researching and growing within in the industry.
The one constant is change.
Conferences:
I typically go to the bigger conferences when I can. So I am always free to meet up with you there and go over some things hands on. I suppose if you have a big enough bank roll, you can fly here or I there. But most things can be answered by email, phone, or IM.
Coaching Guides:
I have some guides and coaching I already have typed up from other people I have helped over time I send along. Some need to be added or modified depending on what you are doing. Not everyone is going into content production, or just a clip store, etc..
I tailor a lot of my help to you based on your questions and feedback. There are no dumb questions, and everyone’s skill level is different. Some come from the online mainstream world and have some knowledge from there. Others are programmers or designers and have that skill set. Yet others are just money guys who enjoy porn and need some help getting into the business without being ripped off.
Whatever you needs, we work it out. But you really need to be committed to wanting to do this, and the work involved. If you read any industry forum anymore, they can reinforce to you that the good old days are dead.
That does not mean there is no money IN porn. But what it means is, you have to work smarter, and harder, than in 1997 or 2002. So you are not going to simply throw up a website and it works like a lotto ticket or scratch off. You have to be willing to put in the work.
Online is really no different then a real job. You have some nice trade offs in your freedom of time and creativity. But ultimately, you approach and run it, just like a real world business.
As always, any questions, feel free to contact me. I will add more to this post as more questions arise in my conversations that I do not want to type out repeatedly.
